It was tied at 133 when George King drove for a layup in the last seconds at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Wednesday. Robert Bolick was called for pulling the net on the play, and King's basket counted with 5.2 seconds left. At the other end, NLEX rookie L-Jay Gonzales missed a corner three, and San Miguel Beer had come back from 20 points down to win 135-133.

Earlier in the same game, June Mar Fajardo had become the 19th player in PBA history to score 10,000 career points. He finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

The win did not change the seeding. Both teams finished the group stage at 9-3, but NLEX had won the first meeting 110-96, and San Miguel needed to win by 15 to take first place in Group A. NLEX are the No. 1 seed and San Miguel the No. 2.

In the second game of the night, the Magnolia Hotshots beat Rain or Shine 107-103 to finish first in Group B.

This follows the weekend roundup, when Converge clinched third place in Group A and TNT finished fourth.

San Miguel 135, NLEX 133

NLEX in control. The Road Warriors led 32-30 after one quarter and 68-60 at halftime. They won the third quarter 44-36 and led 112-96 going into the fourth. The lead reached 20.

The milestone. Fajardo came into the game five points short of 10,000. He got there late in the first quarter with a basket that tied the game at 24. He is the second player to reach the mark this season, after TNT's Jayson Castro in the Commissioner's Cup in May. Ramon Fernandez is still the league's all-time leading scorer.

The fourth quarter. San Miguel won it 39-21. Don Trollano scored 23 off the bench, Marcio Lassiter 19 and CJ Perez 14. King finished with 27 points and nine rebounds. San Miguel tied it at 133, and King's drive and the call on Bolick decided it.

"Before the start of the game, what I told the team is let us play to win," San Miguel coach Leo Austria said.

Deonte Burton scored 43 for NLEX. Gonzales and Schonny Winston had 20 each, and Bolick had 13 points and 15 assists.

Magnolia 107, Rain or Shine 103

Rain or Shine won the second quarter 35-21 and led 61-53 at halftime. Magnolia won the third quarter 33-20 and went into the fourth ahead 86-81.

Javi Gomez de Liano scored 19 for Magnolia. Peter Alfaro had 17, and KJ Buffen and Jerom Lastimosa 16 each. Adrian Nocum scored 25 for Rain or Shine and Aaron Fuller 18.

The Elasto Painters had one last chance. Down four, Deo Cuajao shot from the four-point line to tie it and missed. Rain or Shine wanted a foul on the play, and no whistle came.

"The way they played, especially the bench players, they played like starters," Magnolia coach LA Tenorio said.

Magnolia are 7-3 and have won six in a row. Rain or Shine are 5-4.
