The deal starts at $18.9 million in 2027-28, about $1.9 million above his projected cap hold, and ends with a mutual option in 2031-32. Podziemski was one of 18 players to play all 82 games last season.

The Golden State Warriors signed guard Brandin Podziemski to a five-year rookie-scale contract extension on Saturday, October 10. The deal is worth $110 million and runs through the 2031-32 season. Podziemski will not become a restricted free agent next summer.
The Warriors announced the signing and did not disclose terms. His agent, Bill Duffy, confirmed the $110 million figure, and a second source gave the same number.
The terms
The contract is fully guaranteed and carries a trade kicker. The final season, 2031-32, is a mutual option, which gives both sides a chance to reopen talks that summer.
Podziemski earns $5.6 million this season, the last year of his rookie deal. The extension starts at $18.9 million in 2027-28. That is about $1.9 million more than his projected cap hold of roughly $17 million as a restricted free agent next summer. The salary then rises each year:
- 2027-28: $18.9 million
- 2028-29: $20.4 million
- 2029-30: $22 million
- 2030-31: $23.5 million
- 2031-32: $25 million (mutual option)
The five figures add to $109.8 million, which is the $110 million reported.
The 2027-28 books
The extension starts in the same season Curry's pay changes. Stephen Curry signed a two-year, $116 million extension in September, and his salary drops from $62.6 million this season to $55.7 million in 2027-28. Podziemski's $18.9 million takes about $1.9 million more of that summer's cap room than his cap hold would have.
What the money works out to
Spread over five seasons, the $109.8 million averages $22.0 million a year. The first year, $18.9 million, is 3.4 times the $5.6 million he earns this season. The raises are flat in dollars, $1.5 million to $1.6 million each summer, so they shrink in percentage terms, from 7.9% in the second year to 6.4% in the last. In 2027-28, Curry and Podziemski together will cost $74.6 million.
Against his own draft class, the price is modest. Wembanyama's $252 million works out to $50.4 million a year and Amen Thompson's $208 million to $41.6 million. Podziemski's average is 44% of Wembanyama's and 53% of Thompson's, for a player who has played 220 of a possible 246 games in three seasons, all 82 of them last year.
The season behind it
Podziemski, 23, played all 82 games in 2025-26. He was one of 18 players in the league to do so, and the only Warrior. He started 43 of them.
He set a career high with 13.8 points per game and added 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 28.5 minutes. He shot 45.5% from the field and 37.1% from three. His 153 made threes were second on the team to Curry's 190.
Golden State took him 19th overall in 2023, the first pick of Dunleavy's tenure as general manager. In three seasons he has averaged 11.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists over 220 games. As a rookie in 2023-24 he averaged 9.2 points and 5.8 rebounds and made the All-Rookie First Team.
The 2023 class gets paid
Podziemski joins several players from his draft class who signed rookie-scale extensions this offseason. Victor Wembanyama signed a five-year, $252 million extension with San Antonio in July. Amen Thompson agreed to five years and $208 million with Houston. Ausar Thompson in Detroit and Keyonte George in Utah also agreed to five-year extensions.
What is next
The Warriors finish the preseason this week. They open the regular season at the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, October 21. Podziemski plays this season on his $5.6 million rookie deal, and the extension begins in 2027-28.
