Cooper Flagg's 26 points lead Mavericks past Thunder 120-96

Cooper Flagg scored 26 points and had eight assists, and the Dallas Mavericks beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 120-96 at American Airlines Center on Wednesday night. Dallas made 46 of 97 field goals and 16 of 45 threes. Oklahoma City made 36 of 87 field goals and 5 of 32 threes.

A close first half

Dallas led 33-30 after one quarter and 65-59 at halftime. It scored 32 in the second quarter to Oklahoma City's 29.

Oklahoma City then cut the margin to nine, 80-71, with an 8-0 run from 6:50 to 5:47 of the third quarter.

The third quarter turns it

Dallas scored 11 unanswered points between 9:49 and 7:41 of the third quarter to lead 76-62. That run was the turn of the game. Dallas won the third quarter 29-22 and led 94-81 going into the fourth.

Flagg made 10 of 23 shots, four of four free throws and had five rebounds. P.J. Washington scored 18 points with nine rebounds, and Kyrie Irving scored 15 with four assists in 27 minutes. Dallas was plus 25 with Irving on the floor.

A 27-point fourth quarter

Dallas had its biggest lead, 27 points, with 2:11 left. It was 120-93 at that moment. The fourth quarter ended 120-96. Dallas scored 26 in the quarter, and Oklahoma City scored 15.

Zaccharie Risacher had 13 points and six rebounds in 29 minutes. Max Christie scored 11 with five rebounds, and Caleb Martin and Morez Johnson Jr. each scored 10.

Daniel Gafford had 11 rebounds for Dallas. He scored seven points and blocked two shots. Dallas won the rebounding 49-43 and had 30 assists to Oklahoma City's 17. Marcus Sasser scored 10 with four assists in 22 minutes, and Walter Clayton Jr. played 15 minutes without a point but finished with five assists.

Mitchell and Gilgeous-Alexander

Ajay Mitchell scored 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting. He made two of five threes. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 21 points on 7-of-19 shooting and made all six of his free throws.

Isaiah Hartenstein had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Oklahoma City, along with three assists. Jared McCain scored 10 on 3-of-13 shooting.

Oklahoma City made five of its 32 three-point attempts, and Dallas made 16 of 45.
